PL26 Polgooth CornwallThe first job was to safely dispose of the asbestos roof. The client wanted to reinstate the gutter which had previously been covered and used only as a channel to run water from the main roof to the down-pipe on the opposite side. This had began leaking into the hall. To do this the pitch of the roof needed to be changed; by building up one end and lowering the other we were able to bring the new roof deck in under the gutter line and then reinstate a bottom row of tiles. This allowed the water from that side of the roof to feed into a proper rain water gully instead of running across the garage roof.
The client required plenty of light into the hallway to service a window into the kitchen. Therefore we sourced these Velux powder coated low level skylights so they could not be seen from the driveway. The aim was also to create a separate utility room in one end of the two garages. For this, the ceiling was insulated, plastered, and stud wall constructed. Double doors were also provided and installed. In addition one garage homed a mechanics service pit that required capping and cement screeding which you can see in one of the photographs. |
