TR1 St. Clement Truro CornwallThe client for this job had very exacting standards and expected a very high end finish to match the rest of the house. As well as refurbishing two bathrooms, work was requested in a bedroom where the ceiling had become extremely sagged, evident on entry to the room. The only way to rectify the defect was to remove the lath and plaster and timber battens and construct a new timber frame to hang plasterboard from. Once the ceiling was removed it was evident there was some rot which had caused structural damage to two of the A frames as well as damage to some of the lintels, causing them to drop. In order to prevent problems in the future, and danger to bedroom users, works were carried out to rectify the damaged materials, before giving consideration to levelling the ceiling.
Additional works included the construction of window storage which was built into the alcoves. Finally the entire room was re-plasterboarded and re-decorated. |
