TR5 St.Agnes CornwallThis client was a very creative design-conscious lady as you can tell from the finished product. She knew exactly what she wanted - no tiles to be cut horizontally so the bath, vanity shelf, and shower recess heights aligned with a full tile. This kind of finish required a great deal of planning and skill and it was a joy for me to work for someone who cared so much about every fine detail.
As you might be able to tell from the photographs this bathroom started out as two separate rooms. There was a supporting block work wall between the rooms which needed to be removed and the necessary structural support added. The floor needed to be tiled and as it was was not rigid enough I strengthened the floor with plywood to prevent the tiles from lifting. To do this I removed the chipboard completely, strengthen the joists and laid a ply deck right across the two floors. The wall required being brought out into the hallway to allow enough room for a walk-in shower. I also created a cupboard accessed from the hallway - this required further skill because the space was awkward in shape - see photographs. In addition, the bathroom was fully re-piped and a pressurised unvented electric cylinder was installed in the roof to provide adequate pressure to supply the rainfall shower head. |
